Project Overview

We successfully delivered a 20-foot all-in-one solar container system for an agricultural client in Saskatchewan, Canada. The client was looking for a simple, modular, and easily expandable solar solution to fit farm operations, which would meet the needs of solar generation, battery storage, and ready-to-use power connections in extreme Canadian conditions.

Customer Requirements

Feature Requirement
Solar Panels 10 × 480–540W monofacial panels; fixed, angle-adjustable mounting
Inverter Micro-inverters preferred; zero-export required; grid-tie compatible
Monitoring App-based monitoring of solar production and battery storage
Electrical & Wiring Pre-installed breakers, disconnects, one-way switches; external AC outlets for tools, EV charging, block heaters
Additional Functions Solar-powered ventilation fan; optional DC terminals for vehicle battery charging
Battery ~5 kWh Sodium-ion or LiFePO₄ with BMS; low-temperature heating for –40°C
Container 20ft insulated shipping container; refurbished allowed; optional reefer/heat-pump for heating & cooling
Modular Expansion Support for additional containers to increase solar generation or storage

 Our Solution

To address the client's needs, LZY Energy provided a comprehensive, factory-integrated solution:

  • Solar Generation: Installed 10 × 540W mono facial panels on adjustable fixed brackets optimised for the 20ft container.
  • Inverters & Grid Compliance: Implemented zero-export microinverters for safe grid-tie without backfeeding.
  • Battery Storage: Integrated 5 kWh Lithium-ion battery; inclusive of BMS with low-temperature heating for reliable operation at temperatures as low as –40°C.
  • Wiring & Outlets: All wiring pre-installed; external AC outlets added for tools, EVs and block heaters.
  • Monitoring & Control: Mobile app enabled real-time monitoring of solar production and battery status.
  • Container Modifications: Insulated container delivered with an optional reefer/heat-pump installed for heating and cooling; container fully equipped to be deployed immediately.
  • Modular Expansion: System designed to connect additional containers for future energy growth or extra storage.

Project Outcome

The client received a plug-and-play solar container ready for farm deployment.

Installation was done effectively and required minimal local assembly.

System provides reliable off-grid and grid-tied energy, even in extreme temperatures.

Modular design allows easy scaling to accommodate future energy needs. Additional storage space in the container supports farm operations and equipment storage.
