1. Project Background

Client Request:
To install a solar power system on the rooftop of a standard 20-foot container (rooftop area approximately 13–14 m²), which would be capable of delivering an off-grid daily energy need of approximately 126.12 kWh.

Client's Provision:
The container itself was received from the client — we had to supply the mounting frame, solar panels, and accessories as needed.

2. Design Challenges

Limited Rooftop Space

The roof space was not sufficient to accommodate 41 × 630 Wp solar panels (25.83 kWp total) when mounted on a fixed frame.

Mobility & Deployment

The system had to be retractable or foldable to facilitate easy movement and rapid on-site deployment.

Structural Safety

The structure has to ensure wind resistance, corrosion protection, and long-term operational stability on deployment.

3. Our Solution

Inspired by the sample image to be utilized by the client, we designed a foldable, expandable, and extendable solar mounting system possessing the following characteristics:

  • Expandable Side and Front Arms:
Extendable side and front/rear brackets in the container enable the panel surface to be expanded to ~40 m² during deployment.
  • Foldable Locking Mechanism:
Allows solar frame to lock flat against the roof of the container during transportation and convenient deployment on site.
  • Adjustable Tilt Angle:
Mounting System is adjustable tilt (10–25°) based on local sun exposure for maximum energy production.
  • High-Strength Aluminum Structure:
20+ years' corrosion-resistance treated aluminum service life.
